| Jun 7 - Jul 11 Game of Telephone: Conversations in Poetry & Art |
The classic childhood Game of Telephone has been given an artful twist in the unique exhibit, Game of Telephone: Conversations in Poetry & Art. To kick off National Poetry Month in April of 2018 The ARTS Council worked with poet, Michael Czarnecki, who wrote a poem to start a year-long Game of Telephone in the arts. Michael's poem was given to a visual artist who created a piece inspired by the poem and then the visual art was given to the next poet who created a poem inspired by the artwork. This continued on for a year with the artists and poets seeing only the piece that came immediately before them.
The culmination of this project will be an exhibit at Carey's Brew House in Corning, opening June 7th with a reception on Thursday, July 11th from 6:00 - 8:00pm. Everyone is invited to this free event. All artworks will be available for purchase. Come see what one poem turned into over the course of a year!

Available Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays at 11 AM and 2 PM.
A behind-the-scenes look of our rich history of sparkling winemaking. The tour will begin with an explanation of our estate vineyards focusing on the classic Champagne grapes Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Meunier. The tour continues underground to our historic cellar built in 1886. Here you will learn the process of méthode Champenoise including bottling, aging, and disgorgment while tasting through several examples of our sparkling wines. At the conclusion of the tour, a seated flight of wines are paired with the chef’s seasonal bites where you taste our remaining sparkling wines and still wines produced by Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.
Please arrive at our 1886 Reserve Tasting Room at least 5 minutes before the starting time of the event. Just south of the main winery and tasting rooms is the stone house named Chateau Frank. Once you pull into the driveway and park, walk towards the rear of the building and you will see stairs leading up to the 1886 Reserve Room. The event will feature some walking in our vineyards, so we suggest wearing suitable shoes.

| Jul 11 MATTEO SEGUSO: GUEST ARTIST DEMONSTRATION |
See Guest Artist Matteo Seguso during a live, narrated demonstration in the Amphitheater Hot Shop on July 11 from 6 to 7:30 pm. A master engraver, Seguso uses a lathe and various tools and wheels to create his detailed engravings.
Born in Venice to a family of glassworkers, Seguso runs his own engraving studio. He teaches glass engraving techniques around the world, and also works with maestro Lino Tagliapietra.
This demo is included in the cost of admission (kids and teens 17 and under are free).

Historic Harris Hill Gliderport will host The Soaring Society of America Region 3 and the East Coast Junior Contest. As the 90th anniversary of soaring in Elmira approaches Harris Hill Gliderport will be the site where nearly 50 sailplanes will launch daily to compete in tasks from 200 to 500 miles.
The best time to watch the gliders is in the morning around 11 AM (this time can vary by several hours depending on the conditions). Gliders will be gridded up and taking off one after the other once the contest is started.
Glider rides will be available to the public on a limited basis during competition days after launches and before the contestants return. | Jul 20 - Jul 21 Heritage Village of the Southern Finger Lakes - Blacksmith Classes |
| The Heritage Village (located at 59 W. Pulteney St, Corning) will hold blacksmith classes in its historic 1870 Charles Cooley blacksmith shop once a month from June through October. The shop is outfitted with vintage equipment and tools that will be used to forge iron into useful shapes and objects. Each class will have just two students. All tools and class materials are provided. Two instructional levels will be taught, Basic Fundamentals and Intermediate Fundamentals. The 2-day class runs from 9:00 am – 4:00 pm; the cost is $150.00. Bring your lunch and we will eat in the 1796 tavern! Preregistration is required. READY, SET, GLOW 5K is a family-friendly nighttime 5K! When the sun sets in Downtown Elmira on Saturday, July 20th CareFirst will LIGHT UP THE NIGHT to benefit local hospice programs and services in Chemung, Schuyler, and Steuben counties.
Each registration provides valuable funds that help families throughout the region who are coping with serious illness.

Does your teen have questions about gender and sexuality? Are they interested in learning how to create inclusive spaces for themselves and their peers? Sign them up for our Gender & Inclusion Workshop! We will be using the "Rights, Respect, Responsibility" curriculum created by Advocates for Youth to present a two-night workshop on gender, sexuality, inclusion, and advocacy.
The workshop will be held over two evenings, and teens must commit to both: Wednesday, July 24th and Thursday, July 25th from 6 - 8:30p. Teens should bring their own snacks/dinner (or money to go and get something to eat) as we will be taking a meal break around 7pm. Workshop materials will be provided.
This workshop is meant for teens aged 13 - 15 only. It will be capped at 12 people. The cost is $50 per person and required in advance (through the ticketing link). Once we've received your payment, we will email you a link to get more information about your teen.
The workshop will be led by Card Carrying Books & Gifts co-founder Sarah, who worked as a sexuality educator prior to running the bookstore. She has also been trained in crisis counseling, first aid, and suicide prevention. |

Watch Catherine Ayers, a member of the Hot Glass Demo team, demonstrate her talents as an artist in the Amphitheater Hot Shop on July 25 from 6 to 7:30 pm.
Making glass since 2001, Ayers’ whimsical and unique glass creations are always changing through her ongoing incorporation of different inspirations and techniques. Often including colorful patterns and funky shapes in her work, Ayers is constantly learning more and more about glass as a material.
This demo is included in the cost of admission (kids and teens 17 and under are free).

| The Heritage Village of the Southern Finger Lakes will be sponsoring a summer camp for children ages 7-11 on July 30, 2019 through August 1, 2019 from 10:00 AM until 3:00 PM each day called Sizzlin’ Summer at the Schoolhouse. The camp will focus on life during the 1890s with an emphasis on the Browntown Schoolhouse. There will be a variety of interactive activities and demonstrations including stilts, pen and ink, boat regatta, puppetry, photosensitive art and a Victorian tea. The cost of the camp is $125.00 per camper. There is a $15.00 discount if you register before June 30.
