A frequent instructor at glassmaking schools around the country, including The Studio at The Corning Museum of Glass, Claire Kelly has been working with glass for over twenty years. Kelly, whose work has been exhibited internationally, has been working with acclaimed glass artist Toots Zynsky since 2008 and is currently exploring a new body of work.

Watch as Davide Salvadore demonstrates for his class, Creating and Using Murrine, which focuses on how to create complex murrine and cane designs, and how to use techniques such as incalmo and rotations of the axis.

Toots Zynsky is known for her distinctive filet de verre (glass thread) vessels, which are unique explorations of color and form. Their exceptional designs are achieved through an interweaving of painting and sculpture. In her lecture, Zynsky will share her creative process and sources for inspiration, as well as her recent experience as the Museum’s specialty glass resident artist. The Specialty Glass Residency is a joint program of The Corning Museum of Glass and Corning Incorporated that supports artists in exploring the use of specialty glass materials to inform their body of work.

Davide Salvadore comes from a family of Venetian glassworkers. He is a maestro who both works in, and teaches the art of, glassmaking all around the world. Salvadore combines traditional Italian techniques and elements in innovative ways in his personal body of work. His pieces reflect diverse influences, such as African tribal imagery, Muranese roads, and the smokestacks of glasshouses.

Submit a drawing of something you’d like to see come alive in glass. At select Hot Glass Demos throughout the day, glassmakers will choose a drawing and make that piece from start to finish..

Watch as expert glassmakers transform molten glass into beautiful objects at the live, narrated Hot Glass Demos. Don’t miss the Flameworking, Glassbreaking, and Optical Fiber Demos. All demonstrations take place in the Innovation Center area and are included in the cost of admission.

Each ticket is good for the whole weekend, to visit each winery once.

Single tickets are $35 and include:

• 1 souvenir wine glass
• 1 wine and food pairing at each winery
• 3 additional wine tastings per winery
• 1 recipe collection
• Beads at each winery
• A chance to win a prize at each winery

Discounted designated driver tickets are available. The DD gets all the same perks as a regular ticket, minus the wine.  They also get a DD travel mug, rather than a wine glass. $17.50 for a single.

When ordering tickets, will you be asked to choose a specific starting point. This is where you’ll start the event and be given your wine glass, scavenger hunt card and your recipe collection.

Collaborative partners since 2010, Michael Schunke and Josie Gluck are known for their intricate and beautifully formed goblets. Together, they own and operate  Vetro Vero glassblowing and design studio in Pennsylvania.
