Community Picnic & Concert Lead Up to Spectacular Firework Display
Live music, family activities, great food and a spectacular firework display highlight the agenda for the Eldridge Park Fireworks sponsored by Chemung Canal Trust Company (CCTC) and Wegmans. The July 2nd event starts at 3:30 p.m. at Eldridge Park in Elmira. There is no cost to attend the event.
“We’re very pleased to be partnering with Wegmans to help draw people to the Park for an old fashioned community picnic,” said Michael J. Wayne, CCTC Senior Vice President and Director of Marketing. “Eldridge Park is a wonderful Chemung County landmark. This marks our eighth year and each of the previous events have been very, very successful. With the park enhancements made during the past few years, we expect this year’s festivities to be even better,” Wayne said.
According to Wayne, Dixieland Band, formally the Joe Cavallaro Dixieland Band, will start the concert at 3:30 p.m., followed by Steve Southworth & The Rockabilly Rays at 5:30 p.m., then Anita Lewis & Top Shelf at 7:30 p.m. until the fireworks begin.
Those in attendance are encouraged to bring their own picnic. Hill Top Inn, the White Eagle Club, Elmira Elks Lodge, and the Eldridge Park concession stands will be open throughout the evening to sell picnic foods and beverages, if people would prefer to purchase their “picnic”.
In addition to the music, CCTC has contracted with Bobby K Entertainment to bring inflatables and other “hands on” children’s activities to the park, at no charge, for the younger spectators at the picnic.
Spectators may also ride the Merry-Go-Round or other park rides, play miniature golf or enjoy a boat ride on the lake. The Eldridge Park Preservation Society charges a nominal fee for these activities. The games in the Park’s arcade will also be available for a nominal fee.
Because there is limited parking available at the park, a free shuttle service, provided by CTRAN, will be available throughout the evening from the Wegmans’ parking lot on Clemens Center Parkway. On site handicapped parking will be available, on a first come basis, at the lot accessible from the Woodlawn Avenue entrance to the park. Only handicapped parking will be available in that lot.
“For many years, Eldridge Park has helped create wonderful summertime memories for area residents, their families and friends.” Wayne said, “We’re hoping this annual event will help rekindle some of those traditions, while at the same time allow newer residents the opportunity to create a new family tradition.” |

Join us for the 2016 Corning Incorporated Golf Tournament, scheduled for Friday, July 15th at the Corning Country Club!
It’s an exciting day featuring a fantastic tournament followed by a post-tournament reception with excellent food, prizes and camaraderie. Last year, approximately 200 golfers, 63 sponsors and 25 volunteers contributed to the event, making it possible to raise over $57,000 for the United Way of the Southern Tier. This makes a big difference in the lives of so many people in the community and we could not achieve our goals without your support.
Due to the overwhelming response in the past, we will keep the field open to 50 teams this year. There will be a morning round – 18 teams and an afternoon round - 32 teams (all slots assigned first come/first serve).

Join us for the 2016 Tour de Keuka on July 23rd and play your part in ending hunger!
Don’t miss out on the region’s premier cycling event around scenic Keuka Lake! Join us for the annual Tour de Keuka charity bike ride, and play your part in ending hunger.

This is the second year the event will benefit the Food Bank of the Southern Tier. The 2015 ride attracted over 200 riders of all ages, raising over $45,000 for the Food Bank’s hunger relief programs.
The ride begins in Hammondsport, NY, the "Coolest Small Town in America" and heart of New York State Wine Country. There is something for everyone with 12, 45, 58, and 100 mile distances, hills, and flat scenic stretches around the Keuka Lake region, the Jewel of the Finger Lakes.
You’ll start the day with a complimentary breakfast to help you get fueled up for your ride. On the course you will find Tour de Keuka signs clearly marking each turn and a few in between to assure you’re on the right road. Support vehicles with yellow Tour de Keuka flags carry all the equipment you need provided by Kingsbury Cyclery. They will help you with flats and minor repairs. Rest stops are stationed every 20 miles with friendly volunteers to keep you fed and hydrated and cheer you on. At the end of your journey enjoy a catered dinner provided by Corning Catering, music and more! |

Dave Clark will be hosting a meet & greet and book signing.
Dave is a native of Corning, New York, who now lives in Cape Coral, Florida, with his wife, Camilla, their daughter, Elica, and son Trey.
As an infant, Dave contracted polio. It stunted his growth and left him without the full use of his legs. But despite that, perhaps because of it, he was driven to excel in physical competition against so-called able-bodied people.
The Dave Clark story is likely the greatest "mostly unknown" professional sports account of our time, and teaches unforgettable life lessons that give hope to anyone facing a challenge whether large or small.
