National Soaring Museum - Region 3 Soaring Contest

Historic Harris Hill Gliderport will host The Soaring Society of America Region 3 and the East Coast Junior Contest. As the 90th anniversary of soaring in Elmira approaches Harris Hill Gliderport will be the site where nearly 50 sailplanes will launch daily to compete in tasks from 200 to 500 miles.
 
The best time to watch the gliders is in the morning around 11 AM (this time can vary by several hours depending on the conditions).  Gliders will be gridded up and taking off one  after the other once the contest is started.
 
Glider rides will be available to the public on a limited basis during competition days after launches and before the contestants return.
