Marimba and Percussion

Emily Ickes (OSFL principal timpani) and Simon Bjarning (OSFL principal percussion) join forces to demonstrate both the melodic and rhythmic strengths of the percussive arts. An expert on marimba and pitched mallet instruments, Emily will perform with Simon covering a multitude of unpitched percussion instruments. At OSFL concerts, they stand on opposite sides of the stage, but for this concert they take center stage together to give you a close-up experience with the heartbeat of the orchestral instruments.
