This August, 171 Cedar Arts Center and Centre Stage Community Theatre present HAIRSPRAY: The Broadway Musical, directed by Johnny Koons. In this musical version of the John Waters film set in 1962 Baltimore, plump teenager Tracy Turnblad achieves her dream of performing on a TV dance show and works to integrate the show in the process. Exciting musical numbers, quirky characters, big hair, and laugh-out-loud comedy bring to light important themes including prejudice, love and friendship.
