"The Story of Presidential Speechwriting"

Curt Smith is a commentator, author, and columnist who wrote more speeches than anyone for former President George H.W. Bush. The New York Times terms his work “the high point of Bush familial eloquence.” Smith is also the Nation’s “Voice of authority on baseball broadcasting,” says USA Today, which adds “He shows that writing can be art.” His lecture will include many anecdotes from his White House years.

Smith hosts the Rochester, New York, WYSL Radio 1040 AM and 92.1 FM regular commentary Curt Smith’s View from Here and Saturday hourly A Talk in the Park. He is Rochester’s CBS and Fox TV affiliate political analyst, writes a column for Gatehouse Media, Jewish World Review’s PoliticalMavens.com, and Major League Baseball’s official web site MLBlog.com, and is a frequent guest on syndicated and network radio/TV. Smith is also senior lecturer of English at the University of Rochester, teaching Presidential Rhetoric and Public Speaking.
