On Tuesday, October 27th, CareFirst will host nationally acclaimed Chaplain and author, Norris Burkes, for a presentation on “Resiliency”. A Chaplain in the Air National Guard and author of No Small Miracles, Norris Burkes’ writing takes a spiritual and often comical look at everyday life. His syndicated column “Spirituality” was named second best in America in 2009 by the National Society of Newspaper Columnists. Read by over one million weekly readers in over fifty papers nationwide, Burkes’ column can be found every Saturday in the Star Gazette.
“Resiliency” gives spiritually healthy advice on coping with a major loss, a serious illness, or a heartbreaking divorce. It asks, “How do we get past just surviving?” In a thoughtful presentation designed for caregivers, nurses, and clergy, Chaplain Norris shares the tools of resilience that participants will need in helping people survive.
Burkes will present two sessions of “Resiliency”, at 3:30pm and 5:30pm, respectively. Both presentations are free to the public, no reservations necessary. Light refreshments will be served. Burkes’ presentations will be held in the gymnasium at CareFirst, 3805 Meads Creek Road, Painted Post, NY 14870. These events are sponsored by ArnotHealth and CareFirst.
